If 2 times f(p) equals twenty ( 2f(p) = 20 ) . What is the value of f(3p) ?
The answer :
a) With the word
F(x) equals x plus one
Two times f(p) equals twenty
So f(p) equals ten
P substitute in f(x) equals x plus one
So f(p) equals p plus one
Ten equals p plus one
So p equals nine
Because p equals nine, so f(3p) equals twenty seven
f(3p) equals 3p plus one
f(3p) equals twenty seven plus one
so f(3p) equals twenty eight
b) With the numeral
f(x) = x + 1
2f(p) = 20
f(p) = 10
f(p) = p + 1
10 = p + 1
p = 9
f(3p) = 27 --> f(3p) = 3p + 1
= 27 + 1 = 28
So value of f(3p) = 28
